# System policy rules

What are system policy rules for?

In this section, you have predefined [pay policy](https://docs.mobiclocks.com/docs/pay-policy) rules that specify the cases when overtime, double-time, holiday work, and shift differential [general pay IDs](https://docs.mobiclocks.com/docs/pay-id#general-pay-ids) are applied to the employees' work. You then combine the rules when configuring [policy groups](https://docs.mobiclocks.com/docs/policy-groups) to create a pay policy that best fits your requirements.
