August 2025: Employee roster, report formatting, and more

This August release delivers significant improvements to data formatting, access control, and mobile functionality. We've updated four key reports to use decimal hour formatting for better analytics compatibility and introduced company-level override capabilities for round up minutes settings. Additionally, we've introduced the employee roster feature to both iOS and Android Kiosk Apps, providing project managers with comprehensive real-time workforce visibility across both mobile platforms.

Employee roster for Kiosk App

An employee roster feature has been introduced to both iOS and Android Kiosk Apps, providing project managers with comprehensive, real-time visibility into job site workforce status.

Employee roster Crew view

Key features

Public access: No login required. The roster displays publicly accessible employee information for the current day.

Comprehensive employee data:

  • Employee avatar and name
  • Job site crew tag assignments
  • Actual punch times (not rounded values)
  • Meal break times
  • Current on-site status with green indicators

Smart organization:

  • Expandable view for employees with multiple punches
  • All employees listed together without category divisions
  • Includes unassigned employees who have punched in
  • Shows job site-level crew tags only

Employee roster All view

Visual indicators

Status tracking:

  • Green indicator: Employees currently on-site
  • Grey display: Offline punches
  • Red dash (–): Missed punches
  • Last sync time: Shows when employee data was last updated

Configuration options

Enable/disable employee roster: Control whether the employee roster feature is available on your Kiosk Apps from Administration > Settings > General. When disabled, the roster will not appear on any kiosk devices. The setting is disabled by default.

Display settings: Choose what information is shown to users when the employee roster is enabled:

  • Status only: Displays who is currently punched in or out without showing specific punch times. This option provides a simple overview of workforce presence without detailed timing information.
  • Punch details: Shows comprehensive punch information including punch in/out times and meal punches (when available) for all employees. This option provides complete visibility into employee activity and timing.

Benefits for project managers

  • Real-time workforce tracking of who should be working and who has punched in
  • Meal break monitoring to identify late returns
  • Assignment visibility with crew tag information
  • Cross-platform consistency between iOS and Android devices
  • No authentication barriers for quick access to workforce status

Report formatting improvements

We've updated four core reports to display hours in decimal format instead of the previous hour-minute (h m) format. This change improves data compatibility with downstream analytics tools and simplifies reviewing.

Affected reports

  • Hours Summary report
  • New Missing Cost Codes report
  • Total Employee Count report
  • Timelog Edits report

What's changed

New format: Hours now display in decimal format. Consider the following example:

  • Before: 8 h 30 m
  • After: 8.5

Special handling for Timelog Edits report

The Timelog Edits report retains both formats to support existing workflows:

  • Time Changed (h m): Existing hour-minute format (unchanged)
  • Time Changed (#.##): New decimal format column

Benefits

This update delivers several key improvements:

  • Enhanced compatibility with Power BI, Excel, and other analytics platforms
  • Reduced data transformation requirements for payroll and ERP system imports
  • Better sorting and calculation capabilities in external tools

Company-level round up minutes setting

You can now set different round up minutes policies for each company in your MobiClocks environment, overriding the default general setting when needed. This gives more granular control to organizations with varying time rounding requirements.

Key behaviors

Time picker updates: When editing timelogs, the time picker automatically reflects the Round Up Minutes setting configured for the employee's company.

Setting independence: Changes to the environment-level round up setting don't affect companies that have set their own override values.
