Configure tracking

Configure system-wide GPS tracking.

Through the GPS tracking settings in Administration () > Settings > GPS, you can control how the system collects location data, configure alert tolerances for geofence and signal monitoring, and set notification delivery methods for GPS-related events.

Enable tracking

At the top of the GPS tracking settings page, you can enable or disable GPS tracking for your entire organization. When disabled, all GPS-related settings are hidden from both Job site settings and Employee profile editing pages throughout the system.

📘

NOTE

GPS tracking is disabled by default for new organizations.

If system-wide GPS tracking is enabled, you can enable or disable tracking for each individual job site, where you can also override the default Alert tolerance settings. In addition, GPS tracking can be enabled or disabled for each individual employee in the employee profile.

Location update interval

The Location update interval determines how frequently GPS coordinates are collected on the employee's device while they are punched in. Lower intervals provide more precise tracking but increase battery consumption on employee devices.

Available options:

  • 1 minute (default)
  • 5 minutes
  • 10 minutes

Alert tolerance

Alert tolerance settings determine how long the system waits before generating alerts for employees when specific GPS-related events occur. These settings apply organization-wide by default but can be overridden at the job site level for specific operational requirements.

Out of geofence

The Out of geofence setting controls the delay before an alert is generated when an employee exits a defined geofence zone geofence zone while still punched in.

Available options:

  • 15 minutes (default)
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • Never

When set to Never, the system does not generate out-of-geofence alerts at all.

GPS signal lost

The GPS signal lost setting controls the delay before an alert is generated when Personal App loses GPS signal while an employee is punched in.

Available options:

  • 15 minutes (default)
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • Never

When set to Never, the system does not generate signal lost alerts.

📘

NOTE

Signal loss can occur due to environmental factors such as working inside buildings, in underground locations, or in areas with poor satellite visibility.

Notification method

This section allows you to configure how GPS signal lost alerts are delivered to employees. This setting remains visible even when the alert tolerance is set to Never, allowing you to configure notification preferences in advance.

You can choose from the following notification methods:

  • SMS message: Sends text message alerts directly to the registered phone number, ensuring critical alerts reach you regardless of app access.
  • Push notification (enabled by default): Sends alerts directly to Personal App for immediate visibility of GPS-related events.

Both notification methods can be enabled simultaneously to ensure maximum alert visibility across multiple channels.
