Configure tracking

Configure system-wide GPS tracking.

Through the GPS tracking settings in Administration () > Settings > GPS, you can control how the system collects location data, configure alert tolerances for geofence and signal monitoring, and set employee notification delivery methods for GPS-related events.

Enable tracking

At the top of the GPS tracking settings page, you can enable or disable GPS tracking for your entire organization. When disabled, all GPS-related settings are hidden from both Job site settings and Employee profile editing pages throughout the system.

📘

NOTE

GPS tracking is disabled by default for new organizations.

If system-wide GPS tracking is enabled, you can enable or disable tracking for each individual job site, where you can also override the default Alert tolerance settings. In addition, GPS tracking can be enabled or disabled for each individual employee in the employee profile.

In the following Location update interval and Alert tolerance section you configure how alerts are collected and sent to the system to become available in the Tracking module.

Location update interval

The Location update interval determines how frequently GPS coordinates are collected on the employee's device while they are punched in. Lower intervals provide more precise tracking but increase battery consumption on employee devices.

Available options:

  • 30 seconds (default)
  • 1 minute
  • 5 minutes
  • 10 minutes

Alert tolerance

Alert tolerance settings determine how long the system waits before generating alerts for employees when specific GPS-related events occur. These settings apply organization-wide by default but can be overridden at the job site level for specific operational requirements.

Out of Geofence

The Out of geofence setting controls the delay before an alert is generated when an employee exits a defined geofence zone geofence zone while still punched in. See Tracked alerts and events for the full list of alerts and their underlying events.

Available options:

  • 15 minutes (default)
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • Never

When set to Never, the system does not generate out-of-geofence alerts at all.

Notifications

Apart from alert generation, employees also receive notifications on their Personal App if they stay out of geofence for at least 5 minutes.

📘

NOTE

The Out of geofence alert is triggered even if the employee's Geofence lock setting is deactivated. In this case, the employee doesn't get a push notification.

GPS Disabled and Signal Lost

The GPS Disabled and Signal Lost setting controls the delay before a Signal lost or a GPS disabled alert is generated. See Tracked alerts and events for the full list of alerts and their underlying events.

Available options:

  • 15 minutes (default)
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • Never

When set to Never, the system does not generate alerts.

Notifications

Apart from alert generation, employees also receive notifications on their Personal Apps in the following cases:

  • GPS disabled: Notification sent after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • App force-closed: Notification sent immediately after the app is force-closed.
  • No data received: Notification sent immediately after No data received event
